A/R: Disturbing Images of Pregnant Woman Carried on Wooden Stretcher Hits Online
A disturbing images of a pregnant woman in labour being carried on a locally made wooden stretcher has gone viral on social media.
In the said images, a midwife whose name was given as Rosemary Delai is being assisted by some four young men carrying the pregnant woman in labour on a self manufactured wooden stretcher to a nearby health center for healthcare.
Reports say the sad incident occured at Motokrodua in the Sekyere East District in Ashanti Region.
From the scene, it is believed the village lacks motorable roads for vehicles or ambulance to convey patients to nearby health centre for treatment.
The images since going viral has got Ghanaians questioning the commitment of the government of Ghana to the play vision of basic healthcare needs of residents in rural areas.
Some have begun questioning the recent move by Parliament to construct 275 office complex for Members of Parliament across the country at the cost of over $600,000 at the expense of basic healthcare needs of their constituents at a far lower cost.
