Afrigya Kwabre North District: The parents are not helping – Education director

 

 

 

 

Education director of Afrigya Kwabre North District, Ms. Ellen Gyakyewaa Eshun has revealed that pupils from Primary, Junior High, and Senior High Schools indulge themselves in drug abuse.
He made this known in an interview on Life Fm in Offinso Ashanti.

 

 

 

According to her, only two months of her stay in the District made her to fish out this hidden truth.
Ms. Ellen in her interview threw light on the fact that her administration has duly arranged with the District police commander to assist her in operations to fish out such drug abusers from their hidden places she termed “ghetto”.

“Whiles its the responsibility of the security to arrest the drug dealers, it is the role of us to train them” Said Ms. Ellen.

 

 

Ms. Ellen Gyakyewaa places blame on parents in an attempt to explain the cause of drug abuse by students in the Afrigya Kwabre North District.

According to her, parents are unhelpful when it comes to the training of their wards hence they engages themselves in social vices.

 

 

 

“The inability of parents to monitor and guide their wards is the cause of their wayward behaviours” Said Ms. Ellen.
She however pleaded with parents and guardians to do anything in their capacity to for their children in order for them to abstain from any social vices.

 

 

 

The sector director throwing light on her plans as Education director in the District said, it is her plan to upgrade the level of education so that performances in examinations of all levels shoot up.
In achieving this, she said, her administration has put in place measures to build capacity among teachers and that of students.

The director believes, that the officers must first be trained to train others.
She said, in-service trainings would be intensified frequently to also enhance the capacity of teachers in the District.
