All Foreign Movies Must Be Shown After 9:00pm Effective 1st May, 2021— Films Classification Board Chairman
Chairman for the Ghana film classifications board, Mr. Socrate Sarfo has revealed that from 1st May, 2021, all videos that would be shown or premiered on the televisions must be classified by the films classification board.
Speaking in an interview on Kessben fm’s entertainment show monitored by trendingghana.net, Mr. Sarfo threw light on the fact that there are some films that are not to be shown at midday however the television stations and content owners don’t go by the law.
According to him, the laws preventing the premiere of unclassified videos to the public are going to be enforced strictly. He made mention of the fact that all foreign movies (Series & Telenovelas ) must only be shown after 9.00pm because it does not depict or express the Ghanaian culture.
The chairman reiterated again that all music videos with ladies who are half naked would be ceased from premiering on day light effective May 1, 2021.
The chairman made it plain this saturday that meetings, negotiations and agreements have over the years been established between the Ghana classification board and the Ghana Independent Broadcasting Association (GIBA) to embark on this exercise.
“Producers and television stations would not have any excuse for failure to comply with the new directives because we assume the broadcasting body thus GIBA would educate them on the videos to produce or to premiere” the chairman noted
The chairman although reserved comments on the consequences for failure to adhere to this directives cautioned all the television stations and the producers to treat this as very important and act accordingly.
