‘Ankobia Park Anyankaso’ is new name for Anyankaso Park -Baamuhene announces

The reshaped age old Anyankaso Park in Offinso municipality in Ashanti region of Ghana has been rechristened Ankobia Park Anyankaso.

“The field is by name Ankobia Park Anyankaso so let’s use it henceforth,” the chief of Baamu and Nneduasa in Offinso Traditional Area and founder of popular Mighty Soccer Academy, Nana Kofi Adu Boahen, broke the news to Offinso Watch Friday morning.

Ankobia Park Anyankaso is fast becoming the most attractive pitch in Offinso since Mighty Soccer Academy took over its management.

The evergreen academy’s building is located near the park to enhance easy access for training by resident and non-resident trainees.

“Our arms are wide open for partnerships and other forms of support from well-meaning indigenes home and abroad in our quest to revive juvenile sports in Offinso noted for producing a World Best Player, Dominic Adiyiah (Kwaku Soldier) and contributing to sports in Ghana at other levels,” Kings, as the founding chief is affectionately called, reiterated.

Despite Offinso’s invaluable contributions to sports in Ghana it cannot boast of even an AstroTurf under any government. A development that has sparked social media concerns from indigenes and sympathisers of Offinso.

In 2020, the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government, through the then Youth and Sports minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, pledged an ultramodern sports stadium in Offinso in memory of eight juvenile footballers who lost their lives through a motor accident in River Offin while returning from a registration exercise at Afrancho in Kumasi. The pledge is yet to see the light of day.
