9 out of 1,800 prisoners who broke jail in Nigeria were arrested in Ghana
The Ada District Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Some nine prisoners who reportedly broke jail in Nigeria
few weeks ago.
This arrest comes after a recent announcement by the Comptroller General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Laud Affrifah cautioning regional commanders to be on the alert across the country’s borders following the massive prison break in Nigeria.
The suspected prison escapees were re-arrested by the Ada District Police Command in the Greater Accra Region.
Nigerian officials launched a massive international manhunt for some 1,800 convicts who escaped from prison on 5th April, 2021.
Aan escape Nigerian government believes it’s one of the largest jail break in the country’s history.
Laud Affrifah in a statement feared that some 1,800 convicts who escaped from the Owerri Custodial Centre in Nigeria may seek to cross into Ghana to avert recapture.
International security officials are still on the hunt for the remaining 1791 escapees.
