Former Minister’s Home Flooded after heavy downpour in Kumasi; all electrical gadgets destroyed.
A former Ashanti regional minister and former Mayor of Kumasi, Mr Samuel Sarpong had his home completely flooded after a heavy downpour yesterday in the evening.
Speaking to Nana Kwadwo Nana Jantuah on Nhyira 104.5 fm’s Kuro you mu ns3m this morning, Mr Sarpong who was also regional minister of the Central region said the flooding was as a result of human indiscipline.
He said his home which is located at Atasomanso, an affluent community in the Kumasi metropolis, and several others in his neighbourhood were affected by the downpour yesterday the 23rd day of June 2021.
He blamed the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly authorities for their failure to enforce building regulations within the metropolis for the flooding. He said a few weeks ago, he had cause to complain to the assembly about the silting of a stream near his home for building purposes but nothing was done about it.
He claims the filling of the stream was to blame for the recent flooding. He alleges since he took up residence in the area about 10 years ago, there has never been flooding in the neighbourhood.
