The conversation on Hiplife cannot be held without a special mention and acknowledging the efforts and support of this man, Frankie Taylor to the growth of the genre.
In the early 2000s, when hiplife was on the rise, a certain Frankie Taylor popularly referred to as “Maapoo” who has plied his trade as a broadcaster in a career which spans over 15 years at Fox FM in Kumasi, had one of the most listened to radio shows in Kumasi which solely sought to promote the burgeoning hiplife genre at that time.
Frankie Taylor’s “Atumpan” show aired on Saturdays and it sought to promote the genre by playing only Hiplife songs on the show, playing new releases, and also putting our favorite Hiplife on the show by way of interviews.
His contributions to the growth of hiplife deserve mentioning and acknowledgment.
