THE PETITION (11-02-2021) reads…

“Honourable, we commence by congratulating you on your new nomination as the Minister for Education designate. It is our tervent prayer that you sail through parliamentary vetting successfully and take up the mantle as the substantive minister. Honourable, the above mentioned Association, Unemployed University Diploma Graduate Teachers “(UUDGRAT), humbly writes to your revered outfit to consider us tor recruitment into the Ghana Education Service (GES) as teaching staff. ALSO READ;  Stop feeding the pupils or you will be arrested; GES finally warns Madam Abena serwaa Sir, we are Graduates with qualifications in Education with genuine license awarded to us by the National Teaching Council (NTC) and have completed our mandatory National Service as well. Recently, University Graduates were recruited into the Ghana Education Service (GES), but unfortunately priority was given to only Graduates with Bachelor Degree in Education to apply to the detriment of their compatriots with Diploma in Education. Meanwhile, just as our comrades with Degree, we the Diploma Graduates have also been home for ages after completion and therefore were vehemently expecting to be treated equally, but we were slapped with disappointment eventually. This unfortunate development has aggravated our predicaments as it has rendered us poor and reduced our standard of living drastically taking into consideration the resources that we spent to educate ourselves to this far.

Honourable, we therefore appeal to you as our last resort to swiftly act in our favour by recruiting us immediately as we are fast becoming laughing stocks in our various communities”

Now, THE GOOD NEWS…

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has assured that university graduates will be considered for employment. A response statement signed by Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, Director, General Administration at the MOE indicates that the ministry has noted the request made by the university diploma graduates.

According to MoE, the petition has been forwarded to the Ghana Education Service for the necessary response and action. We will update you more about it.
