President Akufo-Addo has cleared the air on Domelevo’s retirement.
President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has debunked claims that his administration forcefully retired former Auditor-General, Daniel Yao Domelevo from office.
The president however said, Mr. Mr. domelevo’s retirement was as a result of meeting the mandatory retirement age and was due to retire.
According to the president, the failure of the former auditor general to adhere to the country’s laws on retirement and abiding by them was the cause for the controversies surrounding his exit.
In an exclusive interview with CNN a while ago, president Akufo Addo said, “There’s a time for retiring which is prescribed by statute, not my making. If you are 60 years old you are no longer supposed to be able to work in the public service…The Auditor-General, like me, should be some of the first to recognize the laws in our country”.
