Many People Rendered Homeless In Kpabia In The North Region Following Heavy Rain Storm, Residents Appeal For Help
On Wednesday night 17th March, 2021, the people of Kpabia in the Mion constituency suffered a heavy rain storm.
The Assemblyman for Kpabia electoral area Hon Ahmed Adam Kpabia confirmed the incident to trendingghana.net, he narrated that, “the disaster occurred on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm there about resulting to loses of properties, other valuable belongings and economical plants like mango and ‘dawadawa’ trees among others.
He further stated that, over 35 houses were damaged , 80 rooms and about 186 consisting of men, women and children have been displaced.
“what we are doing for now is that, the houses owners are trying their best to see what they can manage for some times. Those whose houses are not all damaged, they have put one or two things to get a place to sleep. But others can’t get a place for now unless we get support from somewhere to help them” he said.
According to him, the disaster has forced some of the victims to pack to their neighbouring houses within the community.
On a phone call interview with the Assemblyman, he said the community has not counted for a single lost of life and critical injuries.
He also went further to appealed to government, NGOs, philanthropists and chiefs to come to their aid as it is a matter of urgency.
According to him, the district director of the National Disaster Management Organization NaDMO Mr Saani Miftaw has visited the area to ascertain the extent of damaged houses and personal belongings.
However the Member of Parliament for Mion constituency Hon Mohammed Abdul Aziz has duly been informed about the incident and he is yet to visit the place.
