Meet Sir Rony, the Maths teacher who is bent on changing the narrative that Maths teachers are “monsters” and that Mathematics is too difficult.

To most students, Mathematics is a demon they would rather do without.

Many students reel with anxiety everytime they look at the class timetable and realize, the next lesson is Mathematics.

The sight of the maths teacher sends chills down their spines and many a student would wish the ground opens so they can hide away from the tormentous maths lessons.

One teacher however, who is eager to change the narrative and bring back the love of mathematics to his students is Sir Rony, a maths teacher at Adventist SHS, Bantama.

A product of Offinso College of Education for his diploma and UCC for his Bachelor’s and masters degrees, Sir Rony believes that students can be made to love the subject if teachers appear more friendly and less intimidating.

He tries to go to the basics to ensure his students get the concept he teaches and also provide more directly applicable questions for his students to appreciate the importance of the concept being taught.

In his spare time, he encourages students to approach him with any challenges they encounter in the course of their studies and he takes the pains to explain things to their understanding.
He further encourages students to download online maths tutorial videos to watch and practise in their spare times.

It does not come as a surprise that his students are always attentive and excited during maths lessons and at times even wish the lesson does not end.
He believes the time is gone when the maths teacher was always seen to be wielding a cane always already to lash out at the least mistake from students.

”With a little more patience, students can be guided at their own pace to master concepts in Maths and develop interest in the subject otherwise known as the chief tormentor of students.” He made it known to Elder Smart of Trendingghana.net
