OFFINSO AMONG 9 LISTED TO GET MULTIPURPOSE STADIA

Offinso, Mampong, Sunyani and six (in the six new regions) others have had their sods cut for the construction of multipurpose stadia to boost sports development in the localities.

The news of that of Offinso broke during the Thursday, October 01 funeral of eight juvenile footballers who lost their lives along the River Offin upon their return from a registration exercise Saturday, September 19.

Prior to the accident OFFINSO WATCH had mounted strong social media crusade regarding Offinso having produced a World Best Footballer, Dominic Adiyiah, but only sees eyesore pitches (sakora parks).
“I heard a young man saying astroturf but we’re going to do more than astroturf. We shall build an ultramodern stadium in the memory of our departed juvenile footballers through the accident,” Sports minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, at the funeral.

Later was a face-to-face engagement between OFFINSO WATCH editor, Osei Kuffour, and executive director of National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter O. Twumasi, where “Now you’ve heard what you wanted” comment to the editor was the icing on the cake.
