The charitable, hardworking and multiple award winning nurse, Benjamin Fosu Owusu Ansah wins another prestigious national award which tool place over the weekends.

On 16th December, 2022 at Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City,Accra.3rd National Annual Dinner and Awards Night organized by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association(GRNMA,) member of lnternational Council of Nurses(lCN),Mr Benjamin Fosu Owusu-Ansah from Offinso Municipality of Ashanti Region was awarded as the winner of the Special Category Awards(Mrs Ruth Aku Gyang Rural Service Award 2022).


Benjamin Fosu Owusu-Ansah was born on 14th June 1987, he completed his secondary school at Dwamena Akenten Secondary School, Offinso Ashanti where he obtained his West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2006.
He got admission into Health Assistants Training School, Sunyani where he obtained certificate in clinical Health care (HAC) in the year 2011.


He was first posted to Mathias Catholic Hospital, Yeji Bono East in June 2012 where he started his practice as an Enrolled Nurse. Having worked in a number of facilities in Bono East, he was transferred from Yeji to Offinso Municipal in Ashanti region. He has worked in a number of facilities in Offinso Municipal and currently with rank Principal Enrolled Nurse.
He is not deterred by the poor nature road network and lack of electricity at Offinso Municipal villages and Offinso Amaning CHPS compound and organize massive outreach activities which resulted in an increased OPD attendance. Since his assumption of duty, the patronage of the facility and its services has been amazing to the extent of exceeding the attendance of Bonsua Health Centre, the main health facility at the Sub Municipality.
His Community Mobile Clinic has benefited many Ghanaians in his municipality and enriched their lives. The use of his personal motorbike to convey patients and pregnant women to the CHPS Compound for and to transport them to referral centers cannot be over emphasized.

He solicit for support from some Non-Governmental Organization and Philanthropist in the form of cash, second hand clothes, shoes, food supplements, free school uniforms and stationeries, free enrolling and renewal of NHIS card for the less privileged, assisting in paying medical bills for mothers having difficulty in settling their bills, enrolling some of the youth into apprentice like sowing, carpentry, car mechanic and bakery. Wheelchairs for the physically challenged and the aged and other relief items for the less privileged in the communities. He also renovates some of the rooms of his patients where necessary as he always quote the definition of nursing by Florence Nightingale (Mother of Nursing) ”the act of utilizing the environment of the patient to assist him in his recovery”. Through his good work and efforts, Offinso Amaning CHPS Compound is now having powerful solar lighting system, double decker refrigerator to store vaccines and other medications and 32 inches LCD Television.


His good relationship with the Offinso Amaning community and neighboring communities, coupled with his diligence and work ethics, has ensured great improvement in health care delivery in the sub municipality and the municipality as a whole.
It was therefore not a surprise when he was nominated for the Offinso Municipal Best Nurses Award, Ashanti Regional Best Nurses Award in 2019 and again Offinso Municipal Best Nurses Award 2020, Best Humanitarian Health Worker 2021 and Outstanding Youth in Health 2021 due to his commitment towards his duties through hard work and innovation in the delivery of health service.
