OUR LEADERS ARE FAILURES TO US —BOGOSO MARKET WOMEN TO ASSEMBLY
Market women in the Prestea Hunivalley Municipality have registered their disappointment with the Prestea Hunivalley Assembly for failure to adhere to their promises made to them since June 2020.
The Prestea Hunivalley Assembly in collaboration with the chiefs in the municipality announced the partial closure of the Bogoso market following directives of the Western regional minister Kwaku Okyere Darko due to failure to observe the protocols laid down by His excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akofo Addo to curtail the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
This, according to the business women was a little bit understandable because despite the pandemic, the said partial close down of the market was only for a while. However the Prestea Hunivalley Assembly took to it heels to also announce a total closure of the same market to a football pitch in the name of renovation within the period of 2 to 3 months.
A concern market woman narrates, “The assembly under the leadership of Isaac Dasmani promised us only 3 months, thus from June to August, but now we are in the eight month, they’ve asked us to go to the market again while construction is still going on”.
Some of the market women also complained about how risky and how hectic it is to sell or do business at a construction site.
Information gathered by a correspondent of Trendingghana.net, John Amarquaye, proves that the contractors go to work only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays as the women also go to market on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The contractor reiterated earlier to news men that funds for the renovation of the market was inadequate hence their failure to complete within time.
The market women are therefore giving the Assembly and the contractor a 2 week autimatum to fully complete the project and permanently handover to them else they will take their own stand.
