The fall of Sekyere Kumawu DCE as communication director speaks at last
Surprisingly missing lately is the embattled Sekyere Kumawu district chief executive (DCE), Samuel Addai Agyekum, on his numerous media platforms he hitherto trumpeted hoaxes on.
Communications officer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Sekyere Kumawu constituency in Ashanti region of Ghana, Kennedy Kwaku Antwi, has finally granted media interview two weeks after Nana Sarpong, a spokesman for the DCE, went on Kumasi-based boss FM to spill falsehoods that have incurred the displeasure of the constituency executive members.
The constituency Communications officer, in an interview with the media early hours of Monday refuted claims of the DCE paying party officers, paying bills, among others.
“The DCE has never, in his four years in office, paid any money to take care of anything at the constituency office. What he did for the party last year were providing a printer for the office and giving 500 party flags to the office. Never has the DCE given money to the communication directorate I head or trained members for any party information dissemination. For five times I went to him in his office for the list of projects executed so that I put them out there to project the party but all attempts failed. On my fifth visit he demanded my email address to channel the projects to me via it but that was another hoax. For his disgraceful attitudes, the least said the better. He beat and dragged a 63-year old first vice chairman of the constituency from his (the DCE’s) office. He later apologised only to return to his anti-party progress machinations. During our 2020 campaign for the elections that we shockingly lost lots of votes despite our victory, he only showed up on two of our 25 different campaign platforms in the constituency. He once came in non party branded t-shirt only to be told to save his face before he took that of Banasco to put on unbranded one. He hides behind some guys and pays them to sabotage lobbied projects and other interventions from the MP. His support for the independent candidate during the elections was exposed” Mr. Antwi lamented for over 11 minutes Monday morning.
In a related development, host of Kumasi-based Ashh FM’s ‘Asanteman Mpuntuo’ has implored the party’s top hierarchy to expedite action on the “open secret bad blood” between the DCE and the MP because it has hindered advancements in Sekyere Kumawu. His call came after aggrieved party loyalist appeared on his show Saturday morning to disclose their ordeals under the DCE and reiterated their call for his replacement with a progressive person.
